Your questions, answered

Everything you need to know before your first visit.

Getting started

What is a PMHNP?
A psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner is an advanced practice nurse with specialized graduate training in mental health. PMHNPs evaluate and diagnose mental health conditions and provide ongoing psychiatric care, including medication management when appropriate.
What does "board certified" mean?
The "-BC" means Michelle passed a national board certification exam in psychiatric mental health nursing, a mark of verified training and expertise.
What happens at the first appointment?
Your first visit is a thorough evaluation. You'll talk through what brings you in, your health history, and your goals, then discuss options and next steps together.
Do you offer therapy or just medication?
Both. Michelle offers medication management, individual therapy, and family therapy, using approaches like Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Problem-Solving Therapy.
How do I book?
Book online through Headway, call (830) 380-4444, or send a request through the contact form.

Telehealth

Do you offer telehealth?
Yes. Michelle sees patients through secure video visits, so you can be seen from home. She is licensed in Texas and Colorado, and patients need to be located in one of those states at the time of their visit.
What do I need for a video visit?
A phone, tablet, or computer with a camera, a reliable internet connection, and a quiet, private space.

Insurance + cost

Do you take insurance?
Yes. ClearPath is in-network with Aetna, Cigna, UnitedHealthcare, Blue Cross Blue Shield of Texas, and many more plans. You can see an instant cost estimate with your plan on Headway.
Can I pay without insurance?
Yes. Self-pay is welcome, and rates are discussed case by case. Call or send a request to talk it through.

Children + families

Do you see children and teens?
Yes. ClearPath sees patients ages 5 and up: children, teens, adults, and seniors. For younger patients, a parent or guardian is part of the process.
Can family members join sessions?
Yes. Family therapy is available, and families can be involved in care when it helps.

For attorneys

Do you work with attorneys?
Yes. ClearPath works with attorneys on personal injury and wrongful death cases, providing psychiatric evaluations, written reports, records review, expert testimony, consultations, and ongoing treatment for clients.
How do I send a referral?
Choose "Attorney / Legal" on the contact form and share the case type, what you need, your timeline, and client initials. Please don't send detailed records through the website.

Urgent help

What if I'm in crisis?
ClearPath is not an emergency service. If you are in crisis or thinking about harming yourself, call or text 988 (Suicide & Crisis Lifeline) or call 911 right away.
